Information for Ramsey Town Commissioners’ Tenants - updated at 3pm on 7th January 2021
Further to the Chief Ministers announcement of 5th January 2021 and the subsequent advice we have been given, we would like to inform you of changes to our Housing services and how they may affect you.
We have taken steps to ensure our staff remain safe but are still able continue to provide this important customer service.
Contacting us
Although there may be a slight delay to response times for general requests and administrative processes, you can still contact us by phoning 810100 and leave a message for a Housing Officer to contact you back or by emailing housing@rtc.gov.im
Essential Maintenance and Repairs
As per the last lockdown in 2020, for this 21-day circuit breaker lockdown period, ending at 23:59 on Wednesday 27 January 2021, only essential maintenance work and emergency repairs will be carried out. This includes but is not restricted to:
- Total loss of electrical power
- Total loss of water supply
- Major water leak including burst pipe or rainwater ingress (causing a flood)
- Toilet blockage or toilet not flushing (where there is no alternative toilet).
If you are unsure about whether your request is an emergency, please call 810100.
If you have an emergency, we will still carry out your repair whilst making sure we do everything we can to keep you, your family and our staff safe. We will continue asking you a set of pre-screening questions before starting any works and before entering your home. Our staff or contractor will wear personal protective equipment and bring cleaning equipment. You will be asked to keep out of the room where they will be working.
We will continue to carry out the annual safety checks such as gas servicing to ensure you remain safe in your home.
Tenants who do not already do so may wish to pay their rent via bank transfer or direct debit - this will assist those who are self-isolating and during the period the Town Hall is closed. Details on these payment methods are available by phoning the finance section at the Town Hall. If you are unable to pay your rent as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, it is important to notify the Housing Office as soon as possible and we will work with you to avoid formal action where Covid-19 is a factor.
All property inspections and non-essential visits have been postponed until further notice.
Sheltered Housing
The Sheltered Housing complexes in Ramsey managed by the Ramsey and Northern District Housing Committee are closed to visitors for one week from Thursday 7 January 2021. Telephone contact is being maintained for tenants and communication has been issued directly to all Sheltered Tenants.
Please look at our general Covid-19 information page for updates about our other services.
