Local Government Act 1985
Ramsey Town Commissioners are petitioning the Department of Infrastructure seeking consent under section 51 of the Local Government Act 1985 to:
- Replace street lighting columns and light fittings identified as being at risk of collapse through corrosion (as identified via a programme of Non-destructive Testing by Manx Utilities) - £80,000.
- Replace existing Mercury street light fittings with modern, efficient LED light fittings - £25,000.
- Replace existing light fitting attachments to extend the useful life of existing lighting columns and upgrade existing light fittings to modern, efficient light LED fittings - £25,000.
- Upgrade street lighting columns (including replacing existing lighting fittings with modern, efficient LED fittings) in poorly lit areas of the Town - £40,000.

The petition will be considered by the Department of Infrastructure and any views on the proposal should be submitted to the Petitions’ Officer, Local Government Unit, Management Services Division, Department of Infrastructure, Sea Terminal Building, Douglas, IM1 2RF, no later than noon on Friday 15th July, 2022.
