RAMSEY IN BLOOM 2022 IS HERE!!
Calling all gardeners!!
Whether you are a novice or an experienced gardener, everyone is welcome to enter our annual Ramsey in Bloom Competition.
There are 17 trophies just waiting to be awarded to the winners of this year’s categories. Have you got the best hanging baskets in Ramsey or the best garden in a Ramsey Town Commissioners property? There is a section for everyone, and the best news is that we have increased the prize money this year so it really can pay to enter this year’s Competition. The prizes for each category are vouchers for goods or services in Ramsey and are perfect for treating yourself in one of our many unique shops (or even for buying more plants and compost to get your garden looking its best for next year's Competition!).
Deputy Chairman and Lead Member for Parks and Leisure Geoff Court commented that “Last year we saw a record number of new entrants in the Competition, and I hope that this encourages everyone to “have a go”. Whether you have a few flowerpots on a balcony or if your garden would rival something seen at The Chelsea Flower Show, we welcome gardeners of all abilities. We would like to thank Felton’s Ironmongers who have kindly sponsored the Felton’s Challenge for a number of years and continue to do so, and also the Farmers Combine who kindly sponsor our Fruit and Vegetable category”.
This year, the Felton’s Challenge is “all things recycled”. Mr. Court said “Over the past few years we have encouraged children and young people to get into gardening, which has been highly successful. This year, we want to teach and encourage our younger generation about minimising waste and to find the fun in creating something from recycled materials. The challenge this year is to create an “eco box” or miniature garden using things found in the garden, in the Park or on the beach – create your very own masterpiece!”.
The judging of this year's main Ramsey in Bloom Competition will be undertaken on 6th and 7th July 2022 by Mr. Court, Head Gardener Bobby Cunningham and our special guest judge, Sue Hardy. Sue is a very keen gardener and has won several trophies in our Competition. She was also the winner of the Garden Tour in 2020 and 2021!
Application forms are available from the Town Hall & Library, Felton’s, Farmers Combine and Ramsey Garden Centre.
The judging of the Felton Challenge entries will take place on Saturday 9th July 2022 at The Courthouse, Ramsey between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m..
Application forms/packs which include a recyclable seed tray are available from the Town Hall & Library, during normal office hours.
