Rates and Finances
Local authorities are funded through a system of domestic and commercial rates. Individual properties are assessed and given a rateable value which forms the basis of the rates charges levied by the local authority, the Isle of Man Water Authority, the burial authority and any other authority funded by the levy of a rate.
The rate year runs from April 1 to March 31 and local authorities are required to set a rate for the forthcoming rate year no later than January 31.
Ramsey Town Commissioners' rates are collected by the Isle of Man Treasury which issues a combined rates bill to every property. Rates are due and payable on April 1 each year and where full payment is made before June 30 a discount of 5% may be claimed.
