Commemoration of 100th anniversary of loss

The Loos Memorial commemorates 20,605 British officers and men who were killed from 25th September 1915 to the end of the war in November 1918 in the battle sector between the river Lys in French Flanders and the village of Grenay, near Lens, in Artois.  One of those recorded is Second Lieutenant Charles McLeod Brereton of the 5th Cameron Highlanders.

Charles Brereton was the son of Major-General Brereton, Riverside, Ramsey, he gave his life in France on September 25th 1915.

At 6:30pm on Friday 25th September 2015, a simple wooden cross will be placed at the War Memorial, Ramsey Courthouse, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the loss of Charles Brereton of Ramsey.
