The creation of a new northern civic amenity site has been welcomed by Ramsey Town Commissioners.
The site was created by the Department of Infrastructure and completed within budget and ahead of schedule.
Located north of Ramsey on the Bride Road at Balladoole Farm it provides facilities for recycling and disposing of household waste, together with a reuse building where unwanted items still in working order may be left for other users to take.
Chairman of Ramsey Town Commissioners Captain Nigel Malpass said: ‘The Commissioners applaud the Department of Infrastructure for providing this new site which is easily accessible to Ramsey residents and offers a convenient and safe environment. Importantly, the site will contribute to promoting responsible domestic waste disposal and reinforcing a "reduce, reuse, recycle" culture.'
The Site operation is funded by financial contributions from the northern local authorities, 52% of which [£97,002.00 in 2012-13] will be met by Ramsey Town Commissioners.
